Today I learned that after nearly 90 years, the Elk Hotel in NYC has closed. The Elk Hotel was the last remaining hourly hotel in Times Square. In November of 2010 I was lucky enough to do a photo shoot in this hotel with Katelan Foisy as part of her Lie & Indite series. It was a surreal experience. The room was heavy with memories and ghosts of a past that now been almost completely erased in Times Square. The headboard was covered in scrawled names and messages. A credit card was under the nightstand. A torn-up letter was in the garbage. It’s a day I’ll never forget. After our two hour allotment had ended, the hotelier knocked on the door. We packed up our things and I asked if I could take a picture of him.

I took this photo almost a year ago and had forgotten about it. Someone just bought the polaroid from this shoot and I am so grateful to have come upon this photo again. It was taken on a cold day when we decided to pretend it was spring.

I’ve decided that I’d like to begin offering a new service to meet your smutty needs. For a miniscule monthly fee ($5.00 in the U.S., $6.00 outside the U.S.) I will dispatch a dirty Balthazar photo to the privacy of your home. It’s a dirty photo subscription, just the kind of thing you could use, in my opinion.

 

So how does this work? I’m glad you asked.

 

 

  1. You subscribe to my service by going here and clicking the subscribe button. You can pay through your PayPal account, or if you don’t have one, they allow you to enter a credit card number. Easy as pie.
  2. Once you subscribe, you will be billed once per month ($5.00 in the U.S., $6.00 outside the U.S.) for as long or as short as you desire. Only want it for one month? You can totally do that.
  3. I will send active subscribers one photo per month through the mail. This is the good part. These will be prints of photos I have taken, and I will choose which one to send you so that it will always be a surprise. Who doesn’t enjoy a naughty surprise? These prints will be approximately 4” x 6” and printed on high quality archival paper, not any cheap stuff, so you can proudly display your prints if you choose (or just class up your underwear drawer).
